Mrs Jackie North
Head Teacher / Staff GovernorHead@benwick.cambs.sch.uk
I was born and grew up in Peterborough and attended Stanground College. I went to Bedford College of Higher Education in 1983 and qualified with a 2:1 BEd in Primary Education. I started working as a class teacher in Corby in January 1989. I stayed at Woodnewton Way Junior School (16 classes / 400 children) for 10 years, working in mainly year 5 or 6. I became year leader (of 4 classes / 100 children) and English Co-ordinator and left there following the birth of my second daughter in 1999.
I started here at Benwick in January 2000 on a 3 day a week contract teaching 36 year 4/5/6! The following September I moved up to 4 days and was full time the year after that. I became Assistant Head in 2002 when Gill Thomas joined the school as Head Teacher. Again I taught mainly years 4/5/6 although I did have one year, in 2005, in year 2/3. In September 2008 I was asked to be acting Head and then was appointed as Head in March 2009. I have been a governor since 2001.
I still live in Peterborough with husband Nigel. Between us we have three children; Oliver 24, Catherine 23 and Molly 19 although none of them are at home any more. Oliver and Catherine both live with their partners, in Derby and Durham respectively and Molly is at university in Southampton.
Miss Gemma Turner
My name is Gemma Turner. I am the Assistant Head and SENCo here at Benwick. I graduated from University in 2006. Since then, I have worked in education and joined Benwick Primary in September 2018.

I have attended many Governor training courses including safeguarding, health and safety, developing governing body effectiveness, getting Ofsted ready, along with different finance courses during my time as a governor.
I live in a village on the outskirts of Wisbech with my partner Chris and our son Jack who is 10. I can be contacted via my school email.

Miss Sarah Laird Turner
Early Years Governorslairdemail@example.com
My name is Sarah Laird-Turner, I am a resident of Benwick and have been for the past 12 months. Although this is a relatively short amount of time, due to working at Benwick Primary for 5 years I feel I have been a part of the Benwick community for a long time.
I currently have 1 child at Benwick Primary with another yet to join, meaning I will be a parent of the school for a further 8 years.
I worked at the school between 2011 and 2016 as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant and due to this, I know the workings of the school as well as having a strong bond. I spent a lot of time working within the Early Years settings and whilst working at Benwick School I gained my BA Early Years degree.
I am currently self-employed, working from home allowing me the time to commit to the school as a governor. I am new to the governing body and as a parent governor I aim to represent all parents of the school to help push the school forward in the future. I am the Early Years Governor and can be found on the school playground during all school drop off and collection times, as well as this I can be contacted via my school email.
Dr Neil Watson
Parent Governor, Vice Chair & Named Governor for SafeguardingNWatson@benwick.cambs.sch.uk
I am a parent of one of the boys at Benwick Primary School, and look forward to my younger son joining in the next 2 year.
My professional role is that of a Clinical Psychologist. I’ve worked within the Fenland and Peterborough area as a psychologist for almost 14 years within a range of services (children, adults, forensic services and more recently older people’s services). I enjoy working in the area and I am keen to explore approaches to improving the local community.
I’ve also worked on national projects and within professional committees. I’ve recently been the treasurer for the British Psychological Society’s Faculty for the Psychology of Older People (for the last 3 years) and prior to that worked on their training subcommittee. I have significant experience in working with people, within and across teams, across services and with other agencies. I have also undertaken training in clinical leadership, which included developing my understanding of service improvement and development.
I am realtively new to the governing body, having only joined the team in September 2017.I am often in the school playground first thing on a Monday and Friday morning, but can also be contacted via my email.
Mr Rob Glozier

I am a qualified teacher, I have worked within a variety of primary schools, most recently within a Special Educational Needs School and have worked as a supply teacher at Benwick Primary School in the past.
