Herons Week 9

Week 9 - English

Creative Writing - writing this week is based on Explorers. You will explore technical vocabulary linked to a text about Captain Robert Falcon Scott, then write a vivid description of an ill-fated expedition.

Reading - Exploring the Deep will be our reading book over the course of the next few weeks. You will read specific pages and answer the accompanying questions.

Grammar - recognising parenthesis (parenthesis is a word, phrase or sentence that is put in writing as extra information or an afterthought).

Spellings - Year 4 and Year 5 spellings are below. You should practise spellings by writing them out and then using them in creative sentences. Use the following website to help with the learning and pronunciation of words: www.spellzone.com

Handwriting - Below is a cursive fluency and speed handwriting pack for you to complete over the next few weeks. Please refer carefully to the handwriting style used and look at the Benwick cursive alphabet model. I have attached a file with handwriting paper which can be printed off at home. Alternatively, we can provide you with handwriting books/paper packs. These can be collected from the school office.

National Bike week 6-14th June

Cycling has been a great release for many families during the pandemic and we hope you’ll continue to enjoy cycling with the family and celebrate by taking part in the Bike Week festivities between 6-14 June. It’s your chance to celebrate all that’s great about cycling.

The latest Government rules say although we have to maintain our social distancing and be at home where we can, unlimited exercise is now permitted.

To help keep families active during this time Cambridgeshire Road Safety Officers are promoting Cycling UK’s free Bike Week resource pack with indoor and outdoor activities you can do as a family. From cooking to colouring, to bike challenges, it’s got it all.
