Swans Wk10

Week 10 - English
Creative Writing - Our writing is based on extracts from the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz. This is a 2 week unit of work. Week 11 English will also focus on extracts from the Alex Rider series, but will offer different activities.
Reading -  The Cave reading comprehnsion will be our focus for the next two weeks. You will read specific pages and answer the accompanying questions.
Grammar - Paragraphs in fiction.
Spellings - Year 5/6 spellings are below. You should practise spellings by writing them out and then using them in creative sentences. Use the following website to help with the learning and pronunciation of words: www.spellzone.com
Handwriting - Continue with the fluency and speed handwriting pack (on Week 9 home learning page). Please refer carefully to the handwriting style used and look at the Benwick cursive alphabet model (also on Week 9 home learning page). I have attached a file with handwriting paper which can be printed off at home. Alternatively, we can provide you with handwriting books/paper packs. These can be collected from the school office.
Miss Wakefield - English Lead

Topic will be looking a little different from now onwards. Instead of a topic grid of choices, we will providing  more in-depth resources on just a couple of areas of learning. This will change each week. Don't forget you can still access all the websites and other learning ideas that we provided in previous weeks' pages.

This weeks' PE is a set of activities linked to basketball (you don't need a basketball to complete them, you simply need a ball of some sort).

Continue the activities set on YUMU by Mrs Clutton.
Try practising some YOGA poses - if the weather is nice, why not go outdoors! The following link has some great activities:
Year 6 transition
Please find a link to the 'Smart Moves' booklet - a resource designed for Year 6 children transitioning to secondary school. We have printed copies of the booklets at school - please contact the school if you would like a copy. This can be collected from the collection box outside the school gate.
