Benwick Briefing 10.2.23

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Welcome to this week's Benwick Briefing.

Message from Mrs Talbot:
We've had a fabulous week of Share and Shines! It's felt like a game of sardines in a couple of classes, where visitors have out-numbered pupils! We've crammed so many of you in, but we all love welcoming you in! We had 81 visitors across the week, thank you for taking the time to share your children's learning with them.

It's been children's mental health week, this week, and we started the week with an assembly thinking about what we do when we feel 'all at sea'. The children in Year 1 onwards have all been taught strategies, over the last couple of years, to calm themselves and it was impressive to hear the children talk about the techniques they find work best for them. We have a new tab on our website for 'Wellbeing' and will update this regularly with ideas and resources for you to use at home.

The children have worked really hard this half-term and are now tired and ready for a break, we hope you all have a great week!

Best wishes,
Mrs Talbot

Governor update:
Dear Parents and Carers,
As a governing board, we have been busy behind the scenes to support and challenge strategic aspects of school development. Governors have visited school and met with school staff, both during the school day and afterwards, to learn more about the curriculum and hold the school to account.
Visits that have happened recently have involved all governors meeting with subject leaders regarding school improvements in all subjects, safeguarding has been monitored carefully  as well as health and safety and school finances.
During every school visit, our Governors are amazed by the fantastic work of the school, the superb progress of the children evidenced in displays and in their books, and the range of opportunities that they are offered. We really enjoy seeing the beautiful classrooms, with learning on display and hope you have enjoyed seeing these, this week during Share & Shine opportunities. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the incredibly hard working staff for going above and beyond expectations every day and also thank you, the Parents and Carers, for supporting what the school does to ensure that your children can achieve their very best.
Best wishes,
Mr Darren Gore - Chair of Governors
