I have been a governor at Benwick since 2011 with a break between September 2017 and 2018, I am currently Chair to the governing body and have 6 years’ experience in that position.

I currently have 2 children at Benwick Primary School.
I worked at the school between 2011 and 2016 as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant and due to this, I know the workings of the school as well as having a strong bond. I spent a lot of time working within the Early Years setting and whilst working at Benwick School I gained my BA Early Years degree.
I now work at a large Primary School within the county as Unqualified Teacher and will be starting my teacher training in September 2021.
I am relatively new to the governing body and as a parent governor I aim to represent all parents of the school to help push the school forward in the future.

Staff Governor and Named Governor for SEND & ReadingJFiore@benwick.cambs.sch.uk
I have lived in Benwick for nearly 25 years now and enjoy the village and what it has to offer.
At home I live with my husband, my two sons and our dogs. My sons both attended Benwick Primary for their entire primary school journey and that is how I came to be involved with the school.
When my youngest was in reception I started working at the after-school club and did some volunteering hearing readers during the school day. Gradually I spent more and more time in the school and began my teaching assistant journey.
I have always worked with children, upon leaving school I worked in a Childcare setting looking after children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. I have worked in all the year groups at Benwick but especially enjoy reception and year 1.
Recently I completed a level 4 SEND ( Special Education Needs and Disability) course. I want to use this new knowledge to benefit the children of the school and hope in my new governor role I’ll be able to achieve this.
I look forward to working with the staff, governors and parents as we move forward helping all to achieve.
I have been teaching for 24 Years and have been lucky enough to work in several different counties, in all year groups, in a range of size and types of school.
I have recently moved back to the locality with my family and have taken up the post of Headteacher at Benwick, which is my second Headship. I have been part of school Senior Leadership Teams for over 10 years and have served on 4 different Governing Boards.

I am a parent of one of the boys at Benwick Primary School, and look forward to my younger son joining in the next 2 year.
My professional role is that of a Clinical Psychologist. I’ve worked within the Fenland and Peterborough area as a psychologist for almost 14 years within a range of services (children, adults, forensic services and more recently older people’s services). I enjoy working in the area and I am keen to explore approaches to improving the local community.
I’ve also worked on national projects and within professional committees. I’ve recently been the treasurer for the British Psychological Society’s Faculty for the Psychology of Older People (for the last 3 years) and prior to that worked on their training subcommittee. I have significant experience in working with people, within and across teams, across services and with other agencies. I have also undertaken training in clinical leadership, which included developing my understanding of service improvement and development.
I am realtively new to the governing body, having only joined the team in September 2017.I am often in the school playground first thing on a Monday and Friday morning, but can also be contacted via my email.

Parent Governor & Named Governor for Safeguarding & Early YearsEWhiting@benwick.cambs.sch.uk
My name is Emma Whiting and my son has just started in Year one and we have lived in the village for 3 years. I grew up in a small village so know the importance of the relationship between the local community and the school and how they can work together. My aim in becoming a parent governor is to embrace school life and to make it an effective learning environment for all children and a place were concerns and compliments can be shared and learned from.
I started my career working in a residential school for children with learning disabilities before moving on to duty manager of a children’s residential home. This means that not only am I used to working to and ensuring guidelines are met, including Ofsted, but I have hands-on knowledge of the diverse needs of children. I currently work freelance as a trainer and work place assessor in adult social care and early years settings. My career means that I’m comfortable dealing with a multitude of professionals and speaking up when the need arises to ensure a positive outcome for all. My training role means I have to observe and relate guidelines and legislation to practice and evaluate it to ensure standards are met and encourage them to be exceeded. As an approved adoption and foster mother, I’m up to date with child protection legislation and understand how by meeting the holistic pastoral needs of a child both emotionally and environmentally can help them reach their full potential within the classroom giving them confidence and resilience.
Working freelance ensures I have time for my family commitments as well as studying to become a speech and language therapist and the responsibilities associated with being a parent governor. I feel I can make a difference to not only my own child’s education but for all children who attend Benwick Primary School and their parents.
